Last Word…Cocktail

With Saint Patrick’s day around the corner (March 17), my advice to you is to steer clear of green beer, the food colouring probably isn’t good for you anyway. Why not class it up a notch with this deliciously green cocktail!

The Last Word (who doesn’t like to have the last word), combines Luxardo Maraschino, Hendrick’s gin, Green Chartreuse and lime juice in equal parts – so it’s easy to remember after you’ve had a few. This long forgotten drink was brought back from obscurity by Murray Stenson of Zig Zag Café in Seattle. I’ve had a few at The Capitol right here in Regina.

Preparation: Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, and shake briskly for 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

3/4 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice

3/4 ounce Luxardo maraschino liqueur

3/4 ounce green Chartreuse

3/4 ounce Hendrick’s gin

Mix one up tonight, no need to wait until Saint Paddy’s day.
